THE OLYMPIA ANTHONY EVANS SSADL HOME PRODUCED SHOWING SERIES

This is a three stage series comprising of:

First Round Qualifiers, Second Round Qualifiers, Grand Final

THE OLYMPIA ANTHONY EVANS SSADL HOME PRODUCED FIRST ROUND QUALIFIERS.

These qualifying shows will be appointed from different regions of the United Kingdom .

We are looking for Pony Club/Riding Club/County/Agricultural Shows to join us   

THE OLYMPIA ANTHONY EVANS SSADL HOME PRODUCED SECOND ROUND /DIRECT ROUTE QUALFIERS

These qualifiers will be appointed from throughout the United Kingdom.

From these qualifying classes 29 ponies/horses will go  to Olympia

THE OLYMPIA ANTHONY EVANS SSADL HOME PRODUCED  GRAND FINAL

This is the pinnacle Championship will comprise of the Supreme In Hand and Supreme Ridden Championships

Yes it is easy to join.

Click on the APPLICATIONS  section click on MEMBERSHIP  and download the NEW OR RENEWAL  membership and the pony/horse NEW registration forms. (If you do not use computers, please write to Membership  Office and request a membership form)

NEW MEMBERSHIP:

Complete the membership application form for yourself and the registration form for your pony/horse.

Remember when sending your completed membership and pony/horse registrations forms please do not forget to include:

  1. A photocopy of your pony/horse passport (this is for age verification) showing the following:

(a)       The front page showing the equine’s name and passport number

(b)       The page with the identification and markings of your equine

(c)        The latest vaccination pages

  1. Two opposite side view photos of the pony/horse – these are used for identification purposes.

RENEWAL MEMBERSHIP:

SSADL will send the renewal memberships forms out in October each year via email. If you do not get one you can always down load them off the website. APPLICATIONS  section click MEMBERSHIP

NEW FOR 2018 All renewal membership forms must be accompanied by the equines latest vaccination page. Please make sure you fill your membership forms in correctly  and put the correct payment forward.

REMEMBER FOR ALL MEMBERSHIPS YOU NEED  TO SEND IN A LARGE SAE FOR THE RETURN OF:

(a) Membership Card  (b) Rule Book (c) Equine Age Badge (d) Stallion Badge if required (e) Society Lapel Badge if required (f) Achievement Awards card if required (g) Information Flyers

I AM NOW A MEMBER OF SSADL AND WANT TO COMPETE IN THE OLYMPIA SERIES – WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?

 

There are 2 stages of qualifications:

1 – OLYMPIA FIRST ROUND QUALIFIERS

Please Note: The first  round qualifying show dates are updated on the website twice a week . Shows will apply for qualifiers from January right up to August per year.

Go to  SSADL website and click on icon for OLYMPIA  SHOWS. There you will be able see a list of shows all over the country that hold the SSADL  FIRST ROUND QUALIFIERS.

Select the show/shows that  you wish to enter, contact the show secretary direct. (you can enter as many shows as you wish to, in order to qualify).

You can choose to enter the RIDDEN section or the IN HAND SECTION – or you can even enter both sections!. Please ensure you select the correct class for the age of your animal. After the judging of the class and the judge has selection their placings. From 1st to 6th placings will be issued with an Olympia Anthony Evans qualification card /SSADL Championship Show qualification card .

Once you receive your qualification card assuming you are already a current SSADL member, you have 10 days to complete the card and return to Memberships  Office. Follow the instructions on the card, This is most important.

If you are NOT a member  with SSADL, then you will get 10 days to become a member and register your pony/horse and send the card in. If not done within the 10 days time frame, your qualification will not be valid. To obtain new membership forms, please go to our website: www.seniorshowinganddressage.co.uk and click on APPLICATIONS then MEMBERSHIPS  and download your forms .

Membership Office will issue a SECOND ROUND ACCEPTANCE CARD which entitles you to enter  SECOND ROUND  qualifiers (see below). Also enclosed with your card will be a list of the shows holding the SECOND ROUND QUALIFIERS.

2 – OLYMPIA SECOND ROUND QUALIFIERS

Once you have selected a show to enter, please remember to have your ACCEPTANCE CARD and your SSADL MEMBERSHIP CARD with you. They will be checked by a steward before you can enter the ring. This is most important and we have to be strict with this rule……. so if you have forgotten your cards then you will not be allowed to enter the ring!

3- OLYMPIA DIRECT ROUTE QUALIFIERS 

There are a number of such qualifiers throughout the United Kingdom. Open to both MEMBERS and NONMEMBERS of SSADL. However in the Olympia Championships it will be the highest placed current SSADL MEMBER  that will claim the Olympia ticket.

HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR THE SSADL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW?

The SSADL National Championship Show is a spectacular 2 day annual event held at Onley Showground, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV23 8AJ.

Our Championship is open to  all Home Produced  Ponies and Horses  – Open to members and nonmembers.

Either :

  • Become a member of SSADL
  •  First Round Qualifier –  1st  to 6th, will be awarded a Championship Show Qualification card.
  • There are  also shows around the country holding SSADL Championship Show qualifiers within their classes. The highest placed  Home Produced pony/horse 15 years of age and over with receive a qualification card.

Once you receive a qualification card, please complete and send to SSADL Membership office: 114 Ruxley Road, Bucknall, Stoke – on -Trent,  Staffordshire  ST2 9BU

Your Championship Schedule will be sent electronically by e-mail (please make sure you have written your e-mail address clearly and correctly). If you do not have an e-mail address, please enclose A5 large stamped s.a.e. when sending your completed card.

Once you receive your schedule you may enter which ever classes you over the weekend, if entering the dressage  events and you are;

  • SSADL MEMBER – Just send in with your entries  a photo copy  of a section test that you gave gained 50% and over.
  • NON SSADL MEMBERS – If you would also like to enter the dressage section you will need to register first with the Dressage Office: dressage@seniorshowinganddressage.co.uk cost is £12 . You also need to send a photo copy of the test you gained 50% and over.

HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR THE SSADL DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS?

Our Dressage Championships qualifiers are for the following levels:

 PRELIMINARY        NOVICE         ELEMENTARY       MEDIUM

Free  Dressage Registration for Current SSADL Showing  Members

Non Members Registration = £12

How to Qualify

Either :

  • Compete at a dressage event that hold SSADL qualifiers – You will receive the Dressage Qualification card
  • Compete at any dressage event  in any of the above levels – if your score is 50% and over and your pony/horse is 15 years & over, please e-mail dressage@seniorshowinganddressage.co.uk to request a dressage qualification form.

Please complete the form and send to Dressage Office with:

  1. Photocopy of your pony/horse passport for age verification, this is:

a) Front page of the equine passport with the animals name on and most important the equine passport number.

b) Identification and markings pages.

c) Latest vaccination pages.

2)  Two opposite side view photos of your pony/horse

3)  £12 for registration to  Non SSADL  Showing Members (make cheques payable to Senior Showing and Dressage Ltd.)

DOES SSADL RUN AN ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS SCHEME?

YES WE DO – AND ONCE MORE ITS FREE OF CHARGE TO PARTICIPATE!

The Achievement Awards Scheme runs from the 1st January to the 31st December each year and is open to all current SSADL members and their registered ponies/horses.

Obtain your card from Head Office when you join or renew your SSADL membership.

A pony/horse can only compete in one section so register in one of the following groups:

Group 1          Pre-Senior 15 to 18yrs ponies not exceeding 148cms

Group 2          Pre-Senior 15 to 18yrs horses exceeding 148cms

Group 3          Senior 19 to 23yrs ponies not exceeding 148cms

Group 4          Senior 19 to 23yrs horses exceeding 148cms

Group 5          Senior Plus 24yrs·& over ponies not exceeding 148cms

Group 6          Senior Plus 24yrs & over horses exceeding 148cms

Please get your cards signed by the Judge/Secretary to validate the points

WHAT  IS THE PROCEDURE  IF I QUALIFY FOR OLYMPIA 

From the minute you qualify for Olympia, your five star package will start, SSADL team look after you from this moment on. The following will happen;

  • First you will be contacted by Clare Frost from the show office, she will congratulate you and will answer any questions you may have. Clare will ask if your Senior is vaccinated and if so this would need to be under FEI rules.
  • Via e-mail you will be sent your Olympia Entry Form – SSADL information letter – You will be required to send a photo of you and your beloved Senior winning at the qualifier, we will need  information on your animals breed  and how long you have been together. A write up in 80 words the history of the your senior  i.e. what has the senior done throughout their life ,and finally what it would mean to win OLYMPIA. –  An Information pack will also be included from Olympia. MOST IMPORTANT – ENTRY FORM – MUST BE  FULLY FILLED IN AND THE CORRECT PAYMENT SENT – NOTE ENTRIES RECEIVED AFTER THE CLOSING DATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
  • In December you will receive via Special delivery package from SSADL this will consist of:
  • Show Day back number.
  • Set show diagram.
  • list of all entries.
  • With your entry you will get three wrist bands  for each day totalling 6 wrist bands.
  • SSADL information package and check list.
  • Olympia information package
  • Olympia will also require you fill the Lorry Information form and send it directly back to Olympia. Travelling down to Olympia – You will asked to contact Joshua Frost the competitors coordinator when you are fifteen minutes away from Olympia. This is so Joshua and his team can meet you as you park up and unload. You will unload your animal in the side street of Olympia Yes in the road!!!! and this why the team are there to assist you. Once you have unloaded  your senior and all your tack etc the team will guide you to the holding  bay and stable mangers office. This is where you senior will be vet checked by one of the Olympia Vets, you will also now collect you actual wrist bands. Once you have all clear  from the stable manager and vet, another member of the SSADL team will take you to your selected stable so you can settle your senior in. The driver of your horse box/trailer will then asked to the vehicle in to the lorry park .
  • Pre – Championship Meeting -This is held in the riders bar the night before the championships this allows the competitors and their families/friends to meet the SSADL team. Clare Frost greets everyone and introduces the SSADL team. Our President Sebastian Garner takes time out of this busy schedule to meet everyone and give a brief talk. Clare Frost runs through what will happen in the ring  then Joshua Frost explains  the procedure out side the ring. The floor is then left  open to the competitors to ask any questions. Before ending the meeting each competitor receiver their SSADL Jackets, Boxed Silver Salver, Bottled water and other goodies, last but not least a packet of polo’s for the pony/horse.
  • Championship Day – Early start for competitors and Joshua’s team. The warm times can start from 7 am two section pony/horse, this is in the Olympia arena . You will also work in with all the international show jumpers.  Now its time to get ready Joshua runs a tight ship and  his like the talking clock. In – Hand Championship all competitors are put in number order, this how they enter the ring. One walk round the an individual trot out before being lined up in the number order. Each animal will perform a set show to the judge, then move on to the other judge for the strip section. After all competitors have performed  it time for the awards, always done in the nail biting reverse order. Lap of honour then the champion goes round on their own.
  • Ridden Championship competitors enter the ring in number order, one walk round then the command of trot followed by the command of canter is given, after a couple of laps in canter the command back to walk is given, and all competitors then line up in the number order. Like the in the In- Hand championship each animal performs the set show and then moves on to the strip section. Finally the results are called in reverse order, after  the awards have been presented it lap on honour time, the champion is held back so to be able to do can go round on their own.
  • Once all the competitors are out of the arena each competitors collects the  prizes/prize money envelope for Ally Pike. After the championships are over the judges  go around the stable arena to chat with the competitors. All competitors are required to leave their stable clean and tidy and must leave before 2pm. The judges are taken for lunch, by SSADL. Finally Clare Frost sends a text to each competitor making sure they have all got home safely and their beloved senior pony/horse is well, she will then wish everyone a merry Christmas. After the show Clare will send via email the results and marks sheets to the competitors, also asking them to send a write up of their experience of being at Olympia this is for the SSADL Olympia Newsletter.
